I loved the charming atmosphere and the fantastic location just a five-minute walk from Centraal Station. The room had a beautiful canal view, though I had to navigate some steep stairs, which may not be suitable for everyone. The breakfast was nice and comprehensive, making for a pleasant start to my day. On the downside, I found the room to be smaller than expected, but it was still comfortable and clean.

The room was cozy and clean, but quite small. I enjoyed the lovely view of the canal, though the lack of space was a bit of a downside.

The hotel had a cozy bar area that was a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The lack of an elevator is something to keep in mind, though.

My stay at the Max Brown Hotel Canal District was quite nice. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which added a lot to my experience. The location by the beautiful canals made my walks around the city enjoyable, but I did find the stairs a bit steep and tricky, especially on the top floors. Overall, it was charming, with cozy rooms, though a bit small, but I appreciated the cozy atmosphere.

The Max Brown Hotel Canal District in Amsterdam boasts a charming and picturesque location right by the canals, which I appreciated. However, I experienced several issues during my stay, including a lack of proper air conditioning in my room and some staff misunderstandings at check-in. Overall, while the hotel has potential and great decor, the service and room comfort left room for improvement.

Rooms
6.0
I found my room to be incredibly hot with no air conditioning, leading to discomfort during my stay. Additionally, there were privacy issues with the skylight window since other guests could see in.
Service
5.0
While the staff were friendly, my check-in experience was quite frustrating, as there was a mix-up with my room bookings and a delay at the reception that left me waiting.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is absolutely perfect, as it’s easily accessible from Centraal Station and close to many key attractions without the noise of the main thoroughfares.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast offered a limited selection, with minimal hot food options available, which might not satisfy guests staying longer than a couple of nights.
Facilities

The hotel did not have a lift, which made navigating the steep stairs challenging, especially with luggage. However, I did appreciate the complimentary drinks at check-in.

I had a lovely experience at Max Brown Hotel Canal District, with a charming atmosphere right in the heart of the canal district. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, really enhancing my stay. However, the rooms were quite small and the stairways steep, which might be a challenge for some guests, especially with larger luggage. The breakfast was nice but could benefit from more variety. Overall, it's a great value if you're looking for a cozy and picturesque place to stay in Amsterdam.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were small but beautifully finished, clean, and comfortable, with attention to detail. However, there wasn’t much space for luggage storage, and the bathroom was also petite.
Service
10.0
The staff provided excellent service, always ready to help with anything, from luggage assistance to dining recommendations. They even surprised me with balloons for my anniversary, adding a lovely personal touch.
Location
9.0
The location was fantastic, right on the canal and close to major sights like the Anne Frank House. This made it super convenient for exploring the city.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was decent with good options like yogurt and coffee, but it could be repetitive and lacked a bit in quantity some days. The small breakfast area meant I had to share tables occasionally, which wasn't ideal.
Facilities
6.0
The lack of a lift was a downside, especially for those on higher floors, and the stairs were quite steep and narrow. The hotel does offer bike rentals, which was a nice touch for exploring Amsterdam.

I had high hopes for my stay at Max Brown Hotel Canal District, but there were mixed experiences. While the location was fantastic and the vibe charming, the room was incredibly small and felt cramped. The service from the staff was generally pleasant, yet I encountered issues like thin walls and a lackluster breakfast.

Rooms
5.0
I found the room I stayed in to be quite tiny and cluttered, with hardly any space for my luggage. The bathroom was cramped, and after a night in such limited space, I was really uncomfortable. It took a while to find out about my initial misbooking, but my room had no air conditioning and just a skylight, which added to the heat. I definitely experienced some noise from neighboring rooms.
Service
6.0
The hotel staff were generally helpful and kind. They tried to address my concerns effectively, and I appreciated their friendly nature. However, the check-in process was a bit disorganized, and I felt a lack of clear communication about amenities like Wi-Fi and breakfast details.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was one of its biggest draws for me. It was just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station and close to picturesque canals. The area felt safe and quite pleasant for an evening stroll, with plenty of restaurants nearby.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast left a lot to be desired. I found it pretty underwhelming and certainly not worth the extra cost. While there were some offerings, I struggled to enjoy it due to the cramped setting and lack of variety.
Facilities
5.0
The atmosphere in the common areas was cozy, with nice decor, but I found the staircases to be a bit daunting. The steep, narrow stairs can be a challenge, especially if you're carrying luggage. On the upside, they did offer bike rentals which were great for exploring the city.
